SUNSHINE VRI BOWLING CLUB Annual Sports Report 2020
Our Tuesday pennant team of 6 saw us finish in the finals we played princess park first semi-final and lost by 1 shot with limited players. 19/20 season this was a very good effort we had new bowlers who had never played before so I felt that we did very well indeed. Our Saturday pennant didn’t do so well but we managed to put in a team of sixteen players every week without giving any walk overs.
This pandemic I know has played havoc with a lot of clubs but we have finished the year with a small balance in the bank and owing no one all bills paid.
We are looking forward to this pennant season and as we are building our club we have gone down to division 7 Saturday which allows us to play a 12aside instead of 16 aside and Tuesday we have stayed as a 6 aside.
We have been very lucky to keep our green keeper at a reduced rate and our green is looking wonderful. We decided until we have more members that no 1green is our top priority and no 2 green will be utilised as either croquet or for holding barefoot functions and children parties.
On behalf of our club, I take this opportunity to thank David Matthews, President and Jarrod Young, Vice President for offering their support. It is greatly appreciated and has given me confidence in our club and members that we will succeed this coming season.
Wishing everyone the very best for the coming season.
Ellen Fleming, President, Sunshine VRI Bowls
